Over a week ago I returned to First "Old" Calvary Cemetery for the first time in years. I couldn't find all of my favored sites in the hour I had before it closed, but I took photos of what I had and I'll eventually post my favorites. But it reignited an old, forgotten question I had: What the hell happened to this monument?

The second, final span of the Kosciuszko Bridge will be opening to traffic on Thursday, four years earlier than expected. I still don't love the modern look of the two spans--since my heart remains with the old-school metal truss bridge it had been from 1939-2017, partly because it looks more atmospheric in my shots of First Calvary Cemetery--but I ( Read more... )
